INT. THE KITCHEN - DAY

JAMES IS STANDING AT THE KITCHEN WORKTOP READING THE MORNING PAPER WHILE DRINKING A COFFEE

 

EXT. STREET/DRIVE - DAY

BLISS GETS OUT OF THE CAR AND WALKS DOWN THE DRIVE TOWARDS THE FRONT DOOR

 

INT. THE KITCHEN - DAY

 

JAMES IS DRINKING HIS COFFEE WHEN HE GETS A PHONE CALL, HE PICKS UP THE PHONE.

 

JAMES

[Smiles and then turns so his back is to the kitchen door]

 

Hey baby, how you doing?

 



 

EXT. DRIVE - DAY

BLISS IS OPENING THE FRONT DOOR THEN WALKS INTO THE HOUSE. SHE LOOKS TIRED FROM A HARD NIGHTS WORK AT THE OFFICE.
 

INT. HALLWAY - DAY

BLISS IS TAKING HER COAT AND SHOES OFF AND STARTS TO WALK TOWARDS THE KITCHEN DOOR.

 

INT. THE KITCHEN - DAY

 

JAMES IS STILL ON THE PHONE TALKING TO LILY. HIS BACK IS STILL FACING THE DOOR, HE IS UNAWARE THAT BLISS HAS ENTERED THE HOUSE.

 

JAMES

[Smiling]
 

I can probably get away this afternoon, she's been working all night on some new project so she'll be out like a light in an hour.

 

[Laughs]
 

Yeah, I'm sure that can be arranged sweetheart.

 

INT. HALLWAY - DAY

BLISS HAS REACHED THE KITCHEN DOOR BUT IS LISTENING INTENTLY TO HER FIANCES CONVERSATION. SHE HAS A CONFUSED AND SHOCKED FACE.

JAMES

I can probably get away at 2ish, then I can get to yours around half past.

 

[Pauses for a few seconds]

 

No don't worry, she'll never noticed I've gone. It'll be only for a few hours Lily.

 

[Pauses for a few seconds]

 

Lily, didn't I already promise you this? As soon as she's got this project over with I'll end it, she's been going through a stressful time and I don't think it's fair to add to the stress.

 

[Pauses for a few seconds]

 

I'm not that vindictive Lily, I owe her this much. After all I am going to break her heart.

 

BLISS LOOKS CONFUSED AND HURT. SHE ENTERS THE KITCHEN. 

INT. KITCHEN - DAY

BLISS

[Breathless]
 

James?

 

JAMES TURNS, HIS FACE TURNS INTO SHOCK AND HORROR THEN SPEAKS INTO HIS PHONE.

 

JAMES

[In a mono tone voice]
 

Lily, I'm going to have to call you back. Yeah I'll ring you later.

 

HANGS UP THE PHONE.

 

Hey, Bliss. You're home early.

 

BLISS

[Breathless]
 

Who...who was that? On the...on the phone?

 

SILENCE.

 

BLISS

[Closes eyes then reopens them and looks into James eyes]
 

James. Who was that?

 

JAMES

[Swallows heavily]
 

Just a friend Bliss.

 

BLISS SHAKES HER HEAD THEN WALKS FORWARD A FEW STEPS.

BLISS

[Looks to the floor then up again]

Please James, who is she?

JAMES

[Looks away from Bliss]

No-one important Bliss, please just...you're tired, go to bed you've had a long night.

BLISS

[Shakes her head in disagreement]

No, no, no please James, please say it isn't true.

[Bliss starts to cry]

Please say you didn't.

JAMES

[Laughs nervously then walks towards Bliss]

I haven't..I would never, I love you Bliss..remember.

BLISS

[Tears running down her face]

James no..who is she?

[James reaches Bliss and gathers her in his arms, she wraps her arms around him and they hold each other lovingly]

Who is she?

JAMES

[Looks ahead and sighs]

She's no one, she's not important to you. We've...

[Coughs]

We slept together once and now she won't leave me alone Bliss. She's obsessed. Believe me.

BLISS

[Shakes her head in disagreement]

But you arranged to meet today James, I heard you.

[Bliss leans away from James' hold]

JAMES LOOK AWAY FROM BLISS AND SIGHS HEAVILY

BLISS

[Looks into James eyes and says strongly]

James.

JAMES

[Lets go of Bliss and walks back to his coffee and paper, puts his hands onto the counter and leans forward. He closes his eyes and sighs again]

It was just supposed to be a one time thing, you know to get it out of my system but somehow she wouldn't let me go.

[He closes his eyes and bows his head]

I tried Bliss, believe me I did but it happened again and I couldn't do anything to stop it.

[Pauses for a few moments]

Then it happened again and again, soon it became a a regular thing.

BLISS CHOKES ON HER SOB AND STARTS TO SHAKE HER HEAD AND WALK AWAY

JAMES

[Lifts his head and looks at Bliss with pleading eyes]

There wasn't any feelings, until she told me after we had done it that she loved me. I ended it because I loved you but you were so caught up in your work that you left me behind, I felt so alone so I went back to her.

[Pauses for a few moments]

That's when I well in love with her Bliss, I'm sorry I didn't mean any of this to happen but it just did.

[He stands up and attempts to walk over to Bliss]

I'm so sorry.

BLISS

[Puts her hands up to stop him and walks away from him]

No James. How could you?

[She looks into his eyes]

Are you saying this is my fault? Because I was working more and not paying you as much attention?

JAMES

No, Bliss. I was just lonely.

BLISS

[Says angrily]

No! Don't you dare use that excuse. I was lonely too.

JAMES LOOKS CONFUSED

Yes, I was working hard and all I wanted to do was come home to you but you weren't there. Instead you were sleeping with some slut. I was lonely James, you left me!

 THEY STAND IN SILENCE FOR A FEW MOMENTS

 

JAMES

[Rubs his face with his hands]

So..should I pack a bag?

 

BLISS

[Looks at James confused]

Do you think I'm going to let you go that easily?

 

SILENCE

 

Well you were mistaken

 

FADE TO BLACK

 

 

 

FADE IN

 

INT. STAIRS - NIGHT

 

BLISS IS WALKING UP THE STAIRS TOWARDS HER BEDROOM. SHE GOES TO OPEN THE BEDROOM DOOR WHEN SHE OVER HEARS JAMES ON THE PHONE.

 

JAMES

Don't worry baby, it's just one night and tomorrow I'll sneak out before she wakes up and that'll be the end. Don't worry.

 

[Pauses for a few moments]

 

Yeah she believed me, don't worry Lily it's all under control this time tomorrow this will be all over.

 

BLISS BURSTS INTO THE BEDROOM, GRABS JAMES' PHONE AND ENDS THE CALL.

 

BLISS

[Shouting]

I cannot believe you! You promised me it was over!

 

JAMES

[Pleadingily]

Bliss...

 

BLISS

No James this is the final straw.

 

BLISS WALKS OUT OF THE ROOM AND JAMES FOLLOWS HER

 

JAMES

[Confused]

Bliss where are you going? Stop it.

 

JAMES GRABS BLISS AND TRIES TO TALK TO HER BUT SHE RESISTSL.

 

BLISS

[Struggles with James]

Let me go you cheating bastard.

 

THEY STRUGGLE ON THE TOP OF THE STAIRS, BLISS FINALLY GETS FREE FROM JAMES HOLD BUT HE LOSES HIS FOOTING AND FALLS DOWN THE STAIRS.

 

 

 

FADE TO BLACK

 

 

 

FADE IN

 

INT. HALLWAY - NIGHT

 

JAMES IS LAYING MOTIONLESS ON THE FLOOR WITH BLISS STARING IN SHOCK AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS. AFTER A FEW MOMENTS SHE STARTS TO DECEND THE STAIRS. SHE REACHES JAMES AND CHECKS FOR A PULSE BUT FINDS THAT THERE ISN'T ONE. SHE SITS AGAINST THE WALL AND HUGS HERSELF WHILE SHE ROCKS AND CRIES.

 

 

FADE TO BLACK

 

 

 

FADE IN

 

INT. HALLWAY - NIGHT

 

BLISS IS STILL ROCKING ON THE FLOOR AND CRYNG.

 

BLISS

[Looks up and breathes in heavily while wiping her tears away]

Come on Bliss pull yourself together. You've got to sort this mess out.

 

 

BLISS WALK AROUND THE HOUSE AND WONDERS WHAT TO DO, SHE REALISES THAT SHE MUST TRASH THE HOUSE TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE THEY WERE ATTACKED BY BURGULARS.

 

BLISS

[Picks up the phone, call the police and cries in despair]

 

POLICE OPERATOR

999 what's your emergency

 

BLISS

[In despair]

Help, me and my fiance where attacked

 

POLICE OPERATOR

Is there anyone hurt?

 

BLISS

My fiance, he was pushed from the stairs and fell, now he wont wake up.

 

[Shouts]

Please help.

 

POLICE OPERATOR

Is he breathing?

 

BLISS

No I don't think so. I know who did it.

 

POLICE OPERATOR

Can you please give me a name.

 

BLISS

[Smiling evily]

Lily Blitz
